Friends of the BCPL

The Friends are a wonderful group of library volunteers and supporters who sponsor author visits and book signings, take on projects such as landscaping the library, serve as program volunteers, and raise funds for the library.

Your financial support is vital to help fund the services that fall outside the scope of the library budget. The Friends of the Buchanan County Public Library is a 501(c)3 organization and your contributions are tax-deductible. Donations may be made online by check or credit card or by mail. Please use the donate button below for credit card or PayPal payments. They will be processed securely by PayPal. No PayPal account is necessary. If using PayPal and wish to make your donation "In honor of", please use the "Add special instructions to the seller field" located on the PayPal donation screen and include the following information.

If you would like your donation to be made “In honor of…” or “In memory of…”, please include the following information.

State if “In honor of” or “In memory of".
Provide the individual’s name (one name per $ 10 donated is the general guideline)
Contact information of person to be notified of your gift (amounts not disclosed)

We take donations of items and of funds through the Friends of the Library. Bring books, magazines, DVDs and other items to the employee entrance during regular library hours. We take these items with the understanding that they be used to best benefit the library. Items may be added to the collection, sold through the Friends of the Library, or given to someone else. Collectable items such as art work or items with county historical significance must be discussed with the Library Director before donation.

The Dollywood Foundation Imagination Library in Buchanan County is supported by the Friends. This program provides a book a month to children under five to keep for their very own. Parents or guardians may sign a child up at birth or anytime up to 5 years. The sooner the child joins the imagination Library is the more books he or she will receive. Books will be mailed to the child’s Buchanan County address every month until the child has his or her fifth birthday. There is no cost to the parent or guardian. The Friends raise funds and ask for grants to cover the cost of $30 per child per year. To sign up, come by the Circulation Desk at the library or fill out this form and mail it to the library.
