Overdues and Fees

The Buchanan County Public Library sets overdue fines and fees to encourage responsibility and to recover costs for services not used by all patrons.  They are set at cost recovery and not in an attempt to generate profit.  As costs increase, fees may rise.  The following list is illustrative and does not include all fines or fees.

Overdue book, magazine, cd  $.05 per day max $5.00

DVD, Cricut, or Video Game $1.00 per day max $10.00

Replacement Library card   1-2   $1.00

3-5 replacement cards   $3.00

6 or more replacement cards $5.00

Photocopies 8×11 $.20 sheet one side

Lamination 8×11  $1.00

Faxes $.50 per page

If an item is lost or damaged beyond use, the patron will be charged what the acquisitions person set as the cost when the item was added to the library collection or a reasonable replacement fee as determined by the Director plus processing fees and any accumulated fines.   If an item is repairable to an acceptable level, the Director may charge a reasonable repair fee.
