By signing above, I agree to allow the Buchanan County Public Library staff to create photos and videos of me either individually or as part of a group and that the library may use these images in future publicity for the library in hardcopy or electronic formats, release them to news outlets, and to post them online. I agree that these images will be the property of the Buchanan County Public Library and that I will receive no payment for them. I am aware of the contest rules below and agree to be bound by them.
- Everyone entering this competition must complete this form and pick up their entry number at the registration table no later than 11:15am Saturday September 17th, 2016.
- Judging begins promptly at 11:30am. You must present in your category when your entry is called. Categories are (1) birth to 7yrs; (2) 8 to 11yrs; (3) 12 to 18yrs; and (4) adult.
- Costumes must be inspired by comic book, anime, fantasy, sci-fi art or literature.
- Costumes will be judged on a 1-5 point scale using these criteria:
- Craftsmanship
- Hair and Make-up
- Presentation
- Originality
- Adherence or Adaption to/from Source Material
- Scores will be awarded in each area then averaged for final score. Points may be given in either originality or adherence/adaption since these are opposites. Scores will be confidential and the judges’ decisions will be final.
- Each contestant will have a maximum of 45 seconds to present their costume. Presentation will consist of walking across staging area onto presentation area, turning as presenter desires, giving character name and desired costume details, with no rude, crude, or lewd gestures or language and no actions which could be deemed dangerous.
- Costumes must be suitable for a family audience and may be disqualified by BCPL staff if not suitable or if the costume or presentation may damage BCPL property.
- If you need help for whatever reason presenting your costume, you will be allowed 1 helper who must be listed on this form.
- Prizes and/or certificates will be awarded at the end of the competition when judging is completed. You must be present to win.
